Plume - "Sunshine in the Rain" Album Art

Mr. William C. Goss, of the rock and roll group Plume contacted me about designing his album artwork towards the end of last year. We took the design through several stages and finally came up with this solution Lately Goss has really been kicking ass. Producing a lot of great music and some film work. Most of recent endeavors are chronicled at www.williamcgoss.com and looks like there is more to come as he begins grad school at SAIC.

CattleLust

These are some composites I produced for a series I'm calling Cattlelust. As one can see from the previous post I was working with a bunch of livestock paintings from the mid 19th century.
I really admire them for a number of reasons:
*I like the physical exaggeration of the animals and how solid and corpulent they seem.
*There is something really obvious in all of these paintings about what the artist was trying
to do that would never have been appropriate at the time if he/she were painting people
or landscapes. Something about the connection between paint and meat, I think.
*Having a huge body of images that track closely to a formula gives one the opportunity
to say things concerning ideas of totality, history, identity, etc.
